Fishing
The Tugela river is well known for an unusual species of fish, the Natal Scaley, which provides fly fishermen with excellent upstream nymphing when the river is right for it.
Catfish can also be caught – by professional and novice alike, and we can arrange lake fishing for the highly edible Black Bass if conditions in the river itself are not suitable for fly fishing.
Canoeing and Rafting
Canoeing along the Tugela is available from the very doorstep of the camp, while
our white water rafting can be among the best anywhere when the river is high.
Full safety kit and guidance are provided.
Walking, Painting and Birding
Some guests just like to spend time in and around
the camp enjoying the scenery
and the wildlife.
The
flowers and shrubs of the bush are a delight and the birding opportunities are
endless.
Giraffe, zebra, impala, waterbuck and ostrich are frequently seen, while our own semi-domesticated meerkats are always around.
Zip Wire & Abseiling, Bikes & Quads
For the adventurous and particularly the young, we offer varied activities and excitement both in and around the camp.
Family visits are very much encouraged and family adventure holidays are
fully catered for.
Jackal Hunting in Gweeko land with Fox Hounds
In the appropriate season, plains game shooting can be arranged. Hunting enthusiasts can follow wild jackal hounds, hunting the Jackal, on foot through stunning Kwazulu Natal countryside. all year round.
Some excursions may require a night or two away from camp, adding variety to your holiday and a chance to see yet more of the spectacular South African veldt.
Battlefield History Tours - Zulu War & Boer War
Many of the famous battles of the Boer and Zulu wars were fought in Kwazulu-Natal and my bush camp provides an excellent base to combine with a tour to explore them. Battlefield excursions extending up to several days can be arranged.
Sometimes our guest parties like to split up for a time, with some going off on a more distant excursion whilst others remain in and around the camp itself, enjoying all it has to offer. The options are endless.
